Vasona Park is approximately a mile from each of the Los Gatos hotels, so you may want to ask the front desk for a cab if that seems like a far walk. Enter the park from University Avenue at Pepper Tree Lane for fastest access to our reserved area, the Lakeview campsite. If driving, park on University Avenue to avoid paying the $6 parking fee in the park itself.

From the north / hotel, take Highway 17 south to the Summit Road exit (Just beyond the "Redwood Estates" exit). At the top of the off-ramp, quickly turn RIGHT and cross over the freeway. At the stop sign, take a LEFT onto Summit Road (Summit Road will lead up a hill; do NOT take the fork to the far left that leads down a hill). Travel approximately 1 mile on Summit Road, then turn LEFT on Old Santa Cruz Highway. Travel 0.6 of a mile until you come to a large clearing on the right with 4 green mail boxes (marked as point B on the satellite view map below on the right hand side).
As you are facing the mail boxes (Point B), take the little road to your left. You will pass one house on the left. Slow down and look for the bird house at the entrance to the gravel driveway. This is Hazlwood (Point A). If you pass the second house and reach the gate, you have gone too far. Drive down the gravel driveway with birdhouses and park in the open lot to the right.

Downtown Los Gatos is a 15-minute walk from the hotel, and the sights and sounds of San Jose are a quick cab ride away. For guests extending their stay to explore the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, we recommend public transportation for traversing the city of San Francisco, and renting a car to navigate other areas like Santa Cruz or Napa. Let us know if you're planning to stick around for awhile—we have a ton of recommendations beyond those listed on this site.
Los Gatos is near many other San Francisco Bay Area hotspots, and is an adorable place in its own right. Food is a definite highlight of Los Gatos. We love Opa! and Pizza My Heart, but there are restaurants downtown that we haven't tried yet, which also get good reviews: Sushi on the Run, Nick's Next Door and The Mmoon Empanadas. Find out more about Los Gatos in the Los Gatos brochure and map and the Official Los Gatos town site.
Los Gatos is just a stone's throw from San Jose, home of high-end shopping, fine dining and the San Jose Sharks hockey team. For a quick bite in San Jose, we recommend La Victoria's Taqueria and their famous Orange Sauce. Next to the high-end Santana Row shopping experience, you'll find Blowfish Sushi—it's still on our bucket list, but if you try it please let us know what you think! More information about San Jose can be found at http://www.sanjoseca.gov/.
South of San Jose lies Santa Cruz and its famous boardwalk. Wineries nestle amid the hike-able mountains surrounding Santa Cruz. If you're up for adventure, check out the Mystery Spot, a gravitational anomaly located in the redwood forests just outside of Santa Cruz. For more information on Santa Cruz, visit http://www.cityofsantacruz.com/index.aspx.
San Francisco is about an hour north of San Jose, and is a mecca of culture and history. Find information about the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Union Square and myriad other city icons at http://www6.sfgov.org/index.aspx?page=5. San Francisco is our stomping ground, so we can make many recommendations if you decide to spend some time there!
About an hour north of San Francisco, you'll find the world-renowned Napa wine country. Aside from delectable wines, Napa also serves up beautiful mountain views, relaxing spa experiences and fine dining. Find out more at http://napavalley.com/.
